Planning and Setting Goals
The following is a list of things to consider before projects are
released into production. By carefully reviewing this checklist, you
will be able to insure the desired results are achieved while minimizing
the total costs.
- Where and how is the project going to be used?
- When is delivery needed and how long will production take?
- Under what lighting conditions will the product be used?
- What is the profile of the reader?
- How many are needed?
- How long is the expected life?
- Are the contents too big or complex for the intended use?
- Does the typography achieve the desired visual effect?
- What paper or medium will be the best communicator?
- Do the illustrations, photos or drawings help the reader understand
the concepts presented?
- Does the design encourage the reader to want to learn more or
take the desired action?
- Will it be used once and recycled or stored for repeated future
reference?
- What image is the sender trying to project?
- Does credit have to be given or permission obtained for information
gathered from other sources?
- Are any of the images or text trademarked, copyrighted, or subject
to usage fees?
- Is the service legal to be sold or marketed in the planned states
or countries?
- Are different languages required to reach the intended audience?
- If mailed or distributed, what is the best way?
- Is the format of the text or images compatible and easily transferable
to our Prepress Department?
- Can multiple versions be produced to minimize costs and maximize
efficiency?
